"In 1967 I spread my collection on the table and reassembled it into the Outer Space Men. My hand flew across the paper and images flowed from my marker with a fluidity that I had never known before, as if some force beyond me was piloting the pen. Front views, side views, back views too; I couldn’t have drawn these invisible entities with more facility if they were standing there before me. In the end, I never felt a pride of authorship or that the Outer Space Men were my creation. They had come through me, not from me, originating in other places far away.
